Dr. Johanna Nisenholtz received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. During her time there, she spent extensive time working with both the men’s and women’s lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and volleyball teams researching the relationship between plyometric landing mechanics and lower extremity injuries. Johanna also worked for ProClinix Sports Rehab in Westchester, New York as an Exercise Assistant and Physical Therapy Aide, where she assisted some of the top sports medicine Physical Therapists in New York. She developed a strong foundation on the treatment of sports-related orthopedic conditions as well as progressive, non-conventional post surgical rehabilitation.
Johanna moved to Southern Pines, North Carolina to complete her advanced outpatient clinical education with Sandhills Sports Performance. She received her postural restoration education training from Jen Poulin, which reshaped her entire perspective and approach to orthopedic rehabilitation and the human body. She joined the Sandhills Sports Performance team as a Physical Therapist following her graduation from Mercy College in 2020.
Johanna’s passion for orthopedics stems from her own athletic background. She was a competitive runner in high school and a collegiate equestrian at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. More recently, she loves pilates, weight lifting, skiing and snowboarding. When she is not in the clinic, she loves going to the beach, paddle boarding, hiking, traveling and spending time with friends, family, and her golden retriever, Butter.
